Marathon Petroleum’s Long-Term Disability (LTD) plan helps replace a portion of your income if you’re unable to work for an extended period of time due to disability. As a new employee, you are automatically enrolled in the LTD plan with coverage provided at no cost to you.
If you become disabled and can’t work, the LTD plan will provide you 60% of your monthly base pay, up to a maximum monthly benefit of $12,000, beginning after six months of disability. To receive the benefit, you must meet the plan’s definition of disabled and continue to fulfill all plan requirements. Benefits end at age 65 if you became disabled prior to age 60.
If you have previously waived participation in the LTD plan, you can apply for coverage at any time. However, you will need to complete a medical questionnaire and provide proof of good health within 30 days of submitting your application.
