Introduction
Marathon Petroleum offers an Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance Plan that provides a measure of financial protection if you or a covered dependent die or suffer severe bodily injury as a result of an accident. We provide a basic AD&D benefit at no cost to you, and you can buy additional contributory AD&D coverage for you and your family.
We also provide separate coverage in the event that you die in an accident while at work or performing Company duties. The Occupational Accidental Death Benefit (OAD) Plan is provided at no cost to you
Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Overview
AD&D coverage provides protection for death or bodily loss due to an accident. Marathon Petroleum provides a basic AD&D benefit of two times your annual pay. You don’t have to enroll – the coverage is automatic – but you do need to designate a beneficiary to receive the benefit in the event of your death.
You may also purchase contributory AD&D coverage (known as the “principal” sum) in any amount from $10,000 to $100,000 in multiples of $10,000, and from $100,000 to $250,000 in multiples of $50,000. Dependent coverage is a percentage of the principal.
Dependent AD&D
You can cover your legal spouse and your children up to age 26. You are the designated beneficiary in the event of your dependents’ accidental death.
